Missouri-born Robert Imber is a resident of Palm Springs where he operates Palm Springs Modern Tours providing tours of the region’s desert modern architecture. He has served on various boards including the NEWSCHOOL Arts Foundation at the NEWSCHOOL of Architecture and Design, San Diego, CA; and the San Clemente Historical Society, San Clemente, CA.

A Trustee of the California Preservation Foundation (CPF) he was founding member of the Palm Springs Modern Committee where he chairs the Education Committee. For the 2009 CPF Palm Springs Conference Committee, he was co-chair for tours and bookstore. Robert was founder and director of MUSARCH, the (now closed) museum of architecture in John Lautner’s Alto Capistrano in San Juan Capistrano, CA.

He is executive producer of the documentary, Desert Utopia: mid-century architecture in Palm Springs and collaborated on Palm Springs Style (Assouline Press). An active preservation advocate, Imber was recipient of Palm Springs 2008 Tourism Partner of the Year and the 2009 PSMODCOM Preservationist of the Year award. Of course,he resides in a mid-century architectural property, designed by Richard Harrison.
